Dispensary

To order your medication you can ring the prescription phone line – 01747 840950 only at these times:

Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri: 09:15 -10:30 and 14:00 – Closing

and Weds: 09:15 – 12:00

We would ask that you order your mediation in plenty of time at Christmas.  We need 3 working days to order and dispense your medication, if your repeats require reviewing by the GP this can add another day to the process.  Please also bear in mind that we are closed Wednesday afternoons.

There is only one person working in Dispensary at any one time, doing a variety of tasks; dispensing, ordering, accepting orders, dealing with requests from the GP’s and Nurses during clinic times etc. If the Dispenser is in the middle of dispensing to a patient she is not able to answer the phone.  We know that being interrupted whilst in the middle of dispensing increases the risk of an error.  We are committed to carrying out our work in a safe and professional manner.  We are constantly striving to find ways of working that ensure errors are not made.  We realise that it can be frustrating when the dispensary phone is not answered.

Patients can still order their medication on–line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  To register for on-line services simply give your email address to the Receptionist and provide a proof of ID. Please DO NOT ask the Receptionist to order your medications, either in person at the desk, or on the phone. Patients can still request medication using their repeat slips.

Please note that Silton Surgery does not take card payments.  You can pay using cash or cheque upon collection of medication, if you are not exempt from NHS charges i.e. over 60 years of age.  You can also pay using BACS details from Reception.

PRESCRIPTIONS
This is a Dispensing Practice, which means that patients living over 1 mile from a pharmacy are able to collect any required medication directly from the Surgery. You can order your repeats on-line, please ask at Reception for details. You can also leave your request in the metal box on the wall outside to the left of the front doors or phone the Prescription line on 01747 840950, preferably in the mornings between 09.15 and 10:30. We aim to have your medication or Prescription available for collection within 72 hours. We do have an arrangement with the pharmacy in Gillingham under which patients who do not qualify under the 1 mile rule, may collect repeat prescriptions from there, but you still need to phone on 01747 840950. If you wish to use this service, please phone before Friday mid-day and let the dispenser know which chemist in Gillingham you want the prescription sent to (Peacemarsh, High Street or The Barn). We can also send prescriptions to either of the Boots Chemists in Wincanton.  Boots High Street Wincanton do send someone a couple times a week to collect but the days of collection can change! Please bear in mind that the community pharmacies will usually only dispense items once they have received the original prescription.  We no longer have a fax facility at Silton Surgery so the prescriptions cannot be faxed.
